Explore the magnificent diversity of reptiles and amphibians found throughout tropical and temperate environments of the world, with more than 50 species on display.
Here, guests can encounter and learn about species such as the Komodo Dragon, Sunda Gharial, Green Anaconda, Shingleback Skink, Texas Blind Salamander, Mangshan Pit Viper, Central Fijian Banded Iguana, Mexican Lance-headed Rattlesnake, Asian Big-headed Turtle, Roti Island Snake-necked Turtle, Poison Dart Frogs, and many more.
Reptile Encounter is also home to Audubon Zoo’s Louisiana Pine Snake Conservation and Recovery Program. Offspring hatched at the zoo are being released into restored habitat in western Louisiana in an effort to restore wild populations of this dwindling species. In addition to learning about these fascinating species, guests can seek relief from the Louisiana heat inside this cool, air-conditioned building.
